It’s an ordinary morning.

My husband and son putter around getting ready for work.

In Mariupol, bombs drop on a theatre where hundreds of people have sheltered from the violence of war. Civilian casualties mount as a war of attrition begins.

The dog, his eager tail wagging, asks to be let out.

curiosier and Curiosier





"When nothing is sure, everything is possible." Margaret Drabble


When I read this quote, I think of the classic tale "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carol.

When a bored seven-year-old Alice dozing next to her sister on the riverbank first sees the White Rabbit, there doesn’t seem to be anything very peculiar about him (even though he is clearly muttering to himself that he's late). It’s not until she notices that he (oddly) is wearing a waistcoat and carrying a pocket watch that her interest is peaked, and she follows him as he hurries down a rabbit hole.

Eyes to see





I almost missed it. I woke up that morning in a dense fog - both outside my window and in my head. I hadn't slept well, and I had an early start to my day. Thoughts of appointments and household needs were already racing through my mind, and it was late. I grabbed the coffee my husband had brought me and jumped out of bed. Not meditating today, I thought. I had a little over an hour to walk the dog, shower, dress, and be out the door to my first appointment. Coffee would have to do for breakfast this morning.

Sneakers





I bought myself a new pair of sneakers. Not just any sneakers, but sturdy, waterproof ones made for muddy trail walks with my dog. They were a bit on the pricey side, but a good investment in keeping my feet dry and my body upright on the steeper parts of the trail.

The Golden Buddha





Near a small village in Thailand, there was a statue of a giant Buddha. It wasn't a particularly beautiful statue. It was made of thatch and mud, and was much beloved by the villagers. One day, there was an earthquake and some pieces fell off of the statue. A monk, curious to see how the statue had withstood the earthquake, began to flake off pieces so he could look inside.
