Daily Living Reiki

Can a Reiki practitioner diagnose and/or treat a problem?
No. A Reiki practitioner cannot diagnose or treat a medical or psychological issue unless they have certification in another health care field that allows them to do so. If a practitioner senses something that they think you should know about they may gently suggest that you seek the advice of an appropriate health care professional.
Can Reiki cure my illness?
No. Reiki does not cure. Only the body can cure itself. What Reiki can do is provide energetic support and stress relief that will help your body with its own self-healing processes. For more information on how Reiki can provide healing support, see "Healing for the Highest Good" by Beth Simmons Stapor, PhD.
Who should not receive Reiki?
Reiki is not contraindicated for any person or condition. It is gentle and non-invasive. The bio-magnetic energy frequency of Reiki is one of healing and cellular renewal and does not interfere with medical devices such as pacemakers. For more on this, read Dr. James Oschman's article "Science and the Human Energy Field"
Is Reiki a religion?
No, Reiki is not a religion. It is a spiritual practice that it is guided by a belief in a Universal Life Force Energy that is alive in all of us and binds us together. The simplicity of Reiki fits with and supports other belief systems. For questions about Reiki and Christianity, checkout this website www.ChristianReiki.org
Has any scientific research been done on Reiki?
Yes. In the last 20 years there has been quite a bit of research done on Energy medicine in the West. For a great article by Dr. James Oschman, one of the leaders in this field, read "Science and the Human Energy Field"
