Daily Living Reiki
My Reiki Story
Unlike some I have not been a spiritual person all my life and have never been particularly religious. It took me a long time to take my first Reiki class, and I was not sold at first. During the first attunement (when the energy channels are “switched on”) I experienced a sensation of warmth in the top of my head (the crown chakra) which made its way down into my throat and chest….where it stopped. As the weekend wore on, however, I began to let down my defenses and allow myself to become really present to being there and experiencing the energy. The more I allowed without trying to analyze or control, the freer the energy became until it was flowing in a steady, warm ray of light from the top of my head through the soles of my feet. The feeling of connection and freedom was incredible. In the peaceful aftermath I was totally relaxed yet energized, and I had a clarity that I had not had before.
The focus of the class had been on self healing and learning to give myself Reiki. In the following weeks I practiced every day, and the more I did the stronger the energy flow became. One day life got in the way and I didn't do my healing session. That day became several days, then weeks, and I soon fell out of the practice.
Slowly I began to see old ways of being coming back. I had started to grind my teeth again. I was constantly tired and stressed and I felt "stuck" in many areas of my life. My friend who originally told me about Reiki suggested that I give my Reiki Master a call and set up an appointment for a healing session. I felt so relaxed and in balance after that session that knew I had to renew my self healing practice. I audited the next Reiki I class, and made the commitment to myself that not only would I continue the life-long joy of healing myself, but that I would help others learn to do the same.
